*This is a sponsored post but all opinions are my own and you guys know I only share the good stuff.
Long before I learned about the concept of “zero waste,” I spent a long time slowly trying to eliminate plastic from my family’s home. No easy task in our modern times. Inspired and educated by Beth Terry and her book, and driven by my own growing understanding of both potential dangers lurking in plastic and the annoying fact that plastic items often break without ability to repair or ecologically dispose of, I was very determined.
While we’re still not 100% plastic-free due to electronics, small appliances and other items that are pretty much impossible to find sans plastic, we’ve also found out about some amazing companies working hard to bring people plastic-free durable goods.
One such company I’ve been a fan of for a while is Pura Stainless. Not only are their bottles completely plastic free – even the lid! – their concept is a minimalist family’s dream. All of the lids and caps are completely shareable among the different models. For kids, their bottle can easily grow with them from baby to teen with an easy swap of the top.
Stainless steel and silicone are safe and environmentally friendly materials. This is the part where I sound like a commercial but this is really cool – Pura Stainless is the only water bottle company to receive the “Made Safe” non-toxic certification. That means that through testing of these products, no harmful toxins that can be a danger to your family were found.
We’ve been using Pura Stainless bottles for at least a year and their products quickly became a fixture in our daily life. We originally got the toddler sippy top bottle for my daughter, and then the straw top, and now that we’re trying out the adult “Sport” models we’re even more convinced we’ll be fans for life. We even have a little bottle for our soon-to-arrive new baby! A family that matches their water bottles together, stays together. 🙂
Stay with me, even though I’m gushing. There aren’t that many companies out there that make a product I feel so strongly about. In a field of not-so-great, break-easily products out there, these have my vote. No more frustration about spending money on something just to have to throw it away once it inevitably breaks or is somehow no longer useable.
Pretty cool, right? We can attest to the durability of these bottles (toddlers like to toss things around!) and the fact that they are incredibly easy to clean. Anyone who has tried to get a funky smell out of a plastic water bottle or sippy cup can tell you it’s no easy feat. The stainless and silicone used in Pura bottles practically cleans itself. Ha, not really. But wouldn’t that be cool?
